SPRINGBROOKAwe inspiring views of cascading waterfalls, craggy outcrops. several walking tracks that meander through spectacular eucalypt and rain forests and, crystal clear streams, are just a few of the reasons why this area is so popular with both tourists and local visitors. The Springbrook National Park covers around 2954 hectares.
With Natural Bridge to the west and Mount Cougal to the east, the plateau caters to thousands of visitors each year with restaurants, cafes, b&b, chalet and retreat accomodation, picturesque camping, picnic and barbecue areas with water and toilet facilities, craft shops, a tavern, an observatory, and even a winery & vineyard. Springbrook offers a different world that is well worth a visit whether it be for a day or much longer. Visit the Springbrook Information Centre in the old school on School Road. Directions: about a 35 minute drive from Mudgeeraba along the Springbrook Road (see map).

THE HINZE DAMThis scenic waterway is the main source of water supply for the Gold Coast. For recreational fishing (permits required and available from council offices or on-site rangers), the dam is abundant with Australian Bass, Silver Perch, Golden Perch, Mary River Cod, Saratoga, and Eel-tailed Catfish. Boating is permitted with the exception of fuel power plants and there are boat ramps provided. Shelters, picnic and barbecue areas, walking trails, toilets and a kiosk are also provided to make the very scenic Hinze Dam a worthwhile place to spend a day. Directions: accessible from Nerang via the Nerang - Murwillumbah road or from Gilston on the the Hinze Dam road. Some activites may not be available under certain conditions.

NATURAL BRIDGE (ARCH)
Natural Bridge is an impressive stone span created over thousands of years by water. Part of the Springbrook National Park, it is situated near the Queensland, New south Wales border. The ceiling in the cavern below is home to thousands of glowworms which, in the right conditions, appear as a stars in the night sky. Walking tracks, picnic and barbecue areas with shelters, fresh water and toilet facilities, Natural Bridge with its cool rock pools and streams, rainforest and wildlife, is a must see inclusion with your visit to this wondrous area. Directions: about 30km from Nerang on the Nerang - Murwillumbah Road or 42km from Mudgeeraba via the Springbrook Plateau, Natural Bridge is located about 4km north of the border gate (see map).
