BE FIREWISE
Any householder who believes that there may be a potential fire hazard on their property or a neighbouring one has a moral obligation to do something.

If it is on your property consult your local fire brigade, to conduct a hazard reduction bum. If the conditions are not suitable for burning consider your options for getting manual assistance in clearing the hazard, maybe hire a couple of unemployed people for a day, approach a local sports club as a fund raiser. What you spend now will be nothing compared to having your house a pile of ashes.

Get to know your neighbours and their properties and talk about any dangerous areas. Believe it or not, once the fires are raging around you it is too late.

Please contact the following brigades in your area for more information or to arrange an inspection.

Mudgeeraba - 5530 6666.
Bonogin - 5530 7230.
Lower Beechmont - 5533 2669.
Springbrook - 0418710138.

The Mudgeeraba Rural Fire brigade receives an income from fire levies of approx. $6,000 per year. It costs us $20,000 a year to run our brigade. The shortfall is made up in brigade fund raising activities. Flag marshalling at Mike Hatcher Raceway, picking up rubbish at the Greek Festival, hazard reduction bums on private properties and donations from the local community.
